Believe for Rest
We want the rest that God promised. The Israelites who did not believe the promises and those who fussed and complained as God lead them to the place of rest did not find rest and did not get to the promise land. No belief; no rest. Let us not be stubborn and doubtful as the majority of the Israelites were in the wilderness (Exodus 14-17). God opened the Red Sea, rained food from the sky, provided water from a rock and most of the people of Israel still did not believe God. They murmured. They complained. If you read farther back in the book of Exodus you would see all the other miraculous things that God performed through Moses on their behalf to rescue them from the Egyptians.
God has shown Himself to many of us over and over again as well. Let’s reflect on the wonderful and miraculous things God has done for us. He will continue to bless us. We must believe that He will reward us for our faithfulness as we diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6), and we must not be stubborn and harden our hearts towards Him (Hebrews 3:7-19).
God wants the best for us. If we are believers with clean hearts, and we walk up to a closed door and God does not open it; the thing behind that door is not for us. If we are believers with clean hearts, and are in a room and get kicked out of the door; the thing in that room is not for us either. FYI The more we read the Bible, the closer we walk with Jesus and allow the Holy Spirit to dwell in us, and as we listen closely to the Holy Spirit, He will reveal the will of God to us. God wants the best for us. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. (James 1:17 New International Version)
We must BELIEVE that God is in control and we must allow Him to have His way in our lives. Philippians 1:6-Being confident of this very thing, that He which has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
Believe and rest in Him. Keep the faith and receive the promises of God.
